Community Service

We are a community organization and strive in a number of ways to give more than music back to our community and to the world.

The choir contributes a portion of its honoraria to a community service project of its choice. We have been a strong supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation because of their efforts to create joyful experiences that foster the healing process for a seriously ill child and for the child's weary and grieving family. The Boeing Employees Choir also strives to create joyful experiences through music, and joy heals!

We were asked by Songs of Love to create a song for a 14-year-old boy ill with cancer at Childrens Hospital. This was our first introduction to Songs of Love, but we feel this is such a worthwhile group, we are looking into other ways we can help. For more information about our song for Seth, see the "Pedaling and Pumping" story about our friend Seth. He is now free of cancer and attending college.

Concert in the crypt of Dresden
Frauenkirche, July 2002.

In addition, we have now completed our part of an international effort in cooperation with friends in the city of Dresden, Germany, to help rebuild the Lutheran Frauenkirche in Dresden. We know how important a church is in the hearts of a city's people, and we wanted to help. Using a portion of the proceeds from the sales of our first recording, Simple Gifts, and the proceeds from a series of benefit concerts around the Seattle area, we have raised over $5,000 for the project. We went to Dresden in the summer of 2002 to personally share in the joy of the rebuilding project.
