Sing for Life Selections for Spring, 2006

These are the musical selections that students and The Boeing Employees Choir will be doing together this spring.

These are required:

  • Two Mozart Kyries, ed. Patrick Liebergen (pub. Alfred). The first was written by Mozart when he was ten years old, and the second when he was about thirteen years old. The school can select either one for performance.
  • Battle Hymn of the Republic, arranged by Wilhousky (pub. C. Fischer). Any voicing will work with ours.
  • Nelly Bly, by Stephen Foster, arranged by Roger Wagner. This is a fun folk-type song about his childhood friend.

These are optional:

  • Sine Nomine (For All the Saints) by Ralph Vaughn Williams, arranged by Earl Rosenberg (pub. C. Fischer). This is an old English hymn, so its a bit 'churchy,' but it has wonderful harmonies and the first and last verses are in unison. The last verse also has an obligato for sopranos.
  • Simple Gifts, an old Shaker tune, arranged by John Coates, Jr Not too hard, and can be sung in two parts.

Optional pieces for older groups:

  • Elijah Rock, arranged by Moses Hogan. Not easy, but great fun.
  • When the Saints Go Marching In, arranged by John Rutter.
  • The Heavens are Telling, from The Creation, by Haydn. Any edition will probably do, but ours is published by Oliver Ditson. Although a sacred piece, this is not as 'churchy' as some classical pieces.
  • Java Jive, arranged by Kirby Shaw (pub. Warner Bros). This is a bit of a swinger, and our basses sing their part an octave lower than written.

Then, we would like to join your group with one or two pieces from your repertoire this year.
